    About FRENCH DUCK

From 1987 we ran a small wine importing company called ALLEZ VINS! originally based in Birstwith in Nidderdale, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire - later from Stockton, near Southam in Warwickshire. Our focus was on French Regional Wines mainly from small quality producers in South West France (Cahors, Madiran, Bergerac, Pecharmant. Jurancon etc) Loire Valley (Anjou, Coteaux du Layon, Touraine, Cheverny, Cour-Cheverny), Languedoc (Corbières,Minervois, Coteaux du Languedoc, Vins de Pays d'Oc) Rhone and Provence (Les Baux de Provence, Costieres de Nimes, Vacqueyras, Gigondas). Our guiding mottos were "un bon rapport qualité/prix" (great value for money); lesser-known French wines; knowledge of the wine-maker and his vineyard - i.e purchasing direct after visiting the region and tasting the wines back in the UK.

In 2005 we retired from selling wine, due mainly to the increasing vulnerability of our backs and shoulders in shifting heavy cases of wine.So although we no longer sell French Wines, we do want to share some our knowledge and passion for France and most things French (i.e. probably not Chirac, Le Pen or Parisian taxi drivers).

kioskWe plan for the French Duck sites to develop into a rich source of information, advice and ideas, with up-to-date relevant content - our daily update (blog) at www.frenchduck.com can keep you informed of new content (added daily as a rule); a rich databank of information and advice at www.frenchduck.co.uk - location maps, calendar of events and more! We welcome comment/feedback/ideas to help this site become really useful for francophiles, wine lovers and gourmets!
