The Lot is home to Cahors and its wines, the rich tannic Malbec red wine. The Lot valley meanders its way from east to west across the departement. and offers a variety of landscapes from deep river valleys, high moorland, expansive oak forests.

At Touzac, near Soturac (46 Lot, Midi-Pyrenees) is one of my favourite Cahors producers - Isabelle Ray-Auriat at Chateau les Hauts d’Aglan. Whilst she is a delightful lady, I confess to my real passion being for her wines - especially the unfiltered 100% Malbec - Cuvée “A”.
In the heart of the Quercy region between Cahors and Montauban, an English couple are making superb country wines - and beers!!
