If you head south from Paris on the A71 Autoroute towards Clermont Ferrand (and now onwards through to Pezenas, Beziers and Montpellier in the Languedoc) you will pass close to the geographic centre of France at Bruères Allichamps. just north of St Amand Montrond.
Further south you’ll come to Montlucon, which hosts its annual Beef Festival in March.
Gers, the home of Madiran, Pacherenc du Vic Bilh, Cotes de St Mont, the Plaimont co-operative and music festivals at Vic Fezensac and Marciac (Jazz)
At Touzac, near Soturac (46 Lot, Midi-Pyrenees) is one of my favourite Cahors producers - Isabelle Ray-Auriat at Chateau les Hauts d’Aglan. Whilst she is a delightful lady, I confess to my real passion being for her wines - especially the unfiltered 100% Malbec - Cuvée “A”.
